About

Niklas van Megen’s works are primarily constructed objects. He draws on his interest in traditional and contemporary craftsmanship. Wood, steel, and stone are his most frequently used materials.

The artist understands space and time as the two central axes of human creation. His works move within the interplay of these two axes. Space follows the rules of geometry, while time enables transformation. Formal rigor meets the inherent dynamics of natural change: bodies deform, surfaces age, edges break open.

Through his use of material and ambiguous form, Niklas van Megen challenges the mind’s impulse to judge and categorize. His works radiate calm and invite a shift from mental activity to physical perception. They encourage spatial and temporal engagement, fostering a quiet identification with present sensations.
